Observing of V1298 Tau
Dear ExoClock participants,
hope you are doing well!
I am reaching out on behalf of Mario Damasso, a Researcher at INAF - Osservatorio Astrofisico di Torino, in Italy.
Mario and his colleagues are trying to pin down the period of the planet V1298 Tau e, which at the moment is not known. This is the main reason you will not find this planet in ExoClock, while its siblings, planets b, c, and d are already there.
There is a predicted transit for tonight, but the uncertainty very high, so if you have clear skies (difficult for Europe as I see it now) you can try observing V1298 Tau for as long as possible. V1298 Tau is a bright enough star close to the equator, so it should be easy to spot and follow it, if the weather is good:
V1298 Tau
**************************
RA: 04h 05m 19.59s
DEC: +20° 09′ 25.56″
V = 10.12 mag
You can find some more details about the star (not the planet) here, to help you plan your observations:

In case of successful observations, please share your data with us via e-mail, as you will not be able to upload the data to the website (the planet in not in our list yet!).
If you are interested, you can read more about planet e and the whole system in this articles:
- https://arxiv.org/abs/2309.14131
- https://arxiv.org/pdf/2111.08660.pdf
Don't worry if you cannot make it, we plan another campaign for late March.
All the best,
Angelos
