Very interesting event will take place on 8 December. The Moon will occult Mars. At least the ingress is observable ~ anywhere from central/western Europe (at ~ 5 UTC on Dec 8), so it could be a nice to observe rotation of Mars at opposition + occultation by the Moon at the end of the night - notice this is Dec 7 evening!).
